News [Feb. 2007] : ELISON ISLAND, an island off the north coast in Greenland have this name in honor of a descendant of Franz Joseph ELISON : Joseph ELISON who was born the 12th january 1849 and went the the U.S. He was a sargent in the U.S Army and was a member of the Greeley Expedition. He died because of the cold. Thanks to Michael ELISON for this information. Cheers Michael.

In Februar 2007 habe ich erfahren, daß es nördlich vom Groenland eine Insel gibt, das ELISON heißt ; in Ehre für Joseph Elison geb. am 12.01.1849, der wegen die Kälte in Groenland sterben mußte ; er war Teil einer Spedition. Danke an Michael von Amerika der mir diese Information gegeben hat.
